Ryan Estrada did a guest strip for Theater Hopper, the movie fan webcomic. (And source of one of my favorite t-shirts.) Estrada’s comic strip makes a funny point about the career arc of many Hollywood comedians, but I was also struck by how effective it was with its use of text. The strip’s got 5 tiers, and only the first and last are fully illustrated. The others are eye-catching with their use of lettering styles and silhouettes. Personally, I found the black-outlined red text panels harder to read than the rest, but he’s trying to handle a lot of words and make them vaguely repellant at the same time. Overall, nice job!
